From 1, 866 companies that have been scored, we are part of the group of 68 companies with a score over 8.5.Environmental and social issues throughout the palm oil supply chain are systemic issues which cannot be resolved by one stakeholder in the value chain. It requires collaboration and commitment from all stakeholders. We are proud that our work towards a sustainable palm oil supply chain has been recognised. The impact of land-use-change (LUC) on the carbon footprint of food production can be very high. Certification schemes for LUC free production can help to promote sustainable sourcing practices. But how to account for LUC free claims in environmental footprinting dealing with complicated supply chains?

Some reflections from the European Forum last week hosted by Covestro. We can't let perfect be the enemy of doing better in driving the growth of safer, more sustainable chemicals. At the same time, we have a moral obligation to do better. Do we want to be part of the solution or part of the problem? It is clear that companies along the value chain and other stakeholders are ready to work together with government agencies and with the finance community to more quickly effect the transition to sustainable chemistry. That gives me hope and energy. Given the emerging Green Deal policies in the European Union, we are ready to convene a coalition of those leaders across the value chain to fundamentally change chemistry. Thanks to all those who participated last week and to those who will join us on this journey....(With our board members Lynette Chung and Peter J. Nieuwenhuizen)

Land Use Change (LUC) significantly impacts the carbon footprint of food production. Certification schemes for LUC-free products can play a crucial role in promoting sustainable sourcing practices. However, within LUC accounting guidance, there is currently no established international direction on how to handle products with LUC-free certification.🔎 ✅ Recognizing this gap, Blonk's LUC expert team has drafted 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐔𝐂-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 to set internal standards for the Blonk team. ✉️ Today we published our open letter to Frans Timmermans and Virginijus Sinkevičius to reform bio-waste collection measures.From 1 January, 2024, the EU will begin its mandatory bio-waste collection. However, as it currently stands, there are no provisions within the Waste Framework Agreement to cut down on the volume of bio-waste. Without concrete targets, we will fall short of the ambitious 65% recycling target by 2035. A staggering 40 million tonnes of potential soil nutrients was discarded in 2018, polluting our environment and squandering invaluable resources.
