FAQs

Is indoor skydiving worth it? ›

If you're looking for a fun experience that gives you a glimpse of what it feels like to fall through the skies – indoor skydiving is absolutely worth it!

How long is each flight at iFLY? ›

We replicate the skydiving experience and offer flights which are about 1½ times longer than a tandem jump. So each flight is around 60 seconds, often a bit longer but never shorter than 50 seconds. A double flight is about 120 seconds long.

Does indoor skydiving feel the same as real skydiving? ›

Q. Does indoor skydiving feel the same as outdoor skydiving? A. The sensation of freefall feels the same on the body whether you're inside or outside, but the views are quite a bit different.

What is the risk of indoor skydiving? ›

Those risks are typically limited to the small bumps and bruises that can be obtained from minor collisions with the tunnel walls; if you're flying with other people, there's always the risk that you could collide with one another and tumble around a bit, but we minimize that risk through training.

Is a high flight worth it at iFLY? ›

Gotta do the High Flight option. Friendly and fun staff, beautiful and clean facility, my fiance and I had a blast doing this together! We did the high fly option (+$10) and it was TOTALLY worth it.

Can I wear jeans to indoor skydiving? ›

Can you wear jeans for indoor skydiving? While we always advise you to dress for comfort, we also want to keep in mind that indoor skydiving is an active sport. Wearing clothing that is fitted and allows a full range of motion will be your best bet.

How difficult is indoor skydiving? ›

Even if you never decide to compete, you'll be harder, better, faster and stronger for the time you put into your tunnel flying… and–dare we say it–quite a bit cooler, too. What's the upshot? Well: Indoor skydiving is as hard as you want to make it–but that's part of the fun! Join us and accept the challenge.

Do you have to weigh yourself at iFLY? ›

If you are concerned about any of the criteria, just contact us for a chat, we'll do everything we can to help you fly. You can fly at iFLY as long as you: Do not weigh more than 300lbs. If you weigh between 260lbs - 300lbs, please notify a team member upon booking in.

Are you free falling when skydiving? ›

While ascending to altitude in an airplane is certainly neat, and floating about beneath a fabric of a parachute is a peaceful treat, for most skydiving is all about the freefall. In skydiving, freefall begins as soon as you exit the plane and ends when the parachute is deployed and fully open.

Is 40 too old to skydive? ›

A lot of people think that they're too old to skydive. We've heard it time and time again, “I wish I'd done it when I was younger!” or “I'm too old to jump now.” But is there an age limit for skydiving? Absolutely not! The only age limit for skydiving that exists is the 18-year-old requirement on the “young” end.

What is the weight limit for skydiving in Kentucky? ›

We have a weight limit of 230 lbs for tandems, which we strictly enforce. We have scales at the registration counter and we use them. We also assess your individual ability to participate in skydiving.

Is it hard to breathe while indoor skydiving? ›

One thing people tend to worry about with the indoor and outdoor versions of our sport is whether it is hard to breathe when skydiving. The increased airflow over your face can make it seem like you can't breathe – but you absolutely can.

Am I too heavy for indoor skydiving? ›

To provide a safe experience for flyers and instructors, iFLY may not be able to accommodate any flyer who weigh over two hundred sixty (260) pounds; additional evaluation by an iFLY staff member upon check-in will be required to determine whether the flyer can be accommodated.

Do you jump in indoor skydiving? ›

Do I have to jump at all? Indoor skydiving offers the freedom and excitement of skydiving, but without the jump or hard fall. In the tunnel, your instructor will assist you in leaning directly into the wind flow so you will be lifted up. An instructor will be with you one-on-one while you are in the tunnel.

How hard is indoor skydiving? ›

Indoor skydiving requires the body to bend and move in ways that are initially unnatural, and it takes a while for those muscles to build up resistance to the wind. When we move muscles that aren't used to working, lactic acid is released into them, and this is what causes us to have that satisfactory soreness.

Is indoor skydiving good training? ›

Build Strength and Stamina

Indoor skydiving is a cardiovascular activity, so after your first session, you will likely find yourself out of breath. There's no need to fret: you just have to strengthen those flying muscles and build up your stamina. To do so, start with shorter flight sessions.
