Whether you got that Apple Watch to count steps during your European vacation, count calories burnt at Barry's, or just take phone calls on your wrist like you're in f*cking Star Wars, you want it to look good. The easiest way to do that? Swap that lame silicone band out for a designer Apple Watch band.
The tech behind an Apple Watch makes it one of the best smartwatches on the market, but the band makes it your own. And honestly, Apple's stock bands fall short (the Hermès collaboration being the exception). But because this is a wearable—not a computer, smart home device, or other hidden gadget—you want it to look good. It's a proper accessory, like an AirPods case or AirTag Wallet. So to ensure your tech doesn't ruin your style, we found the best-looking Apple Watch bands on the market.

- Apple Watch SE: 40mm or 44mm
Pros
- Gorgeous
- Not leather
Cons
- Pricey, for real
You'll really emphasize the luxury part by opting for the twill watch band Hermès created for Apple. Even though the partnership no longer includes leather bands—as part of Apple's big sustainability push—the Hermès bands are still far more luxurious than anything else on the market. And, quite frankly, that's what we're all about over here.
In terms of comfort and aesthetics, this Hermès band is the pinnacle of what you can expect from an Apple Watch band. We don't think anything will ever top it as our favorite.

So let's say you want name-brand luxury but you need something sporty. An all-day band that will get you through even the sweatiest of summer nights.
I would still go Hermès, because there's nothing more luxury than working out, running, or doing yoga with that trademark orange on your wrist. Plus, this is some of the softest rubber you'll ever feel. In fact, you might not even really feel it.

Alligator leather is a classic for men's accessories, so it makes sense that it works well here too. I mean, it's one of the most classic watch band styles, so why wouldn't you want it on your infinitely more useful wrist computer? That's what smartwatches are, even if some of the best modern ones don't look like it.
If you want to give your Apple Watch that fashionable edge, Abas is here to help you do it at a reasonable price. Want your wrist to look more posh, distinctive, and a little bit rugged? You need alligator.

Shinola makes leather—classic, glossy, with a whole lot of sass, yet simple for every wardrobe and in every color. Strapping that on your Apple Watch will make a difference, trust me.
Shinola's leather Apple Watch band is simplicity incarnate. Just high-quality materials and a buckle that works. You don't need anything more than that.

Pros
- Super good price
- Great for working out
Cons
- Only comes in one color at the moment
This is the band of choice if you love the magnetic snap of the Milanese Loop, but need something for working out or more casual outings. It looks pretty nice, despite being silicone, and I can't say I've had any complaints taking it on or off.
It's easy to see how WITHit's magnetic silicone band will easily become my go-to when I hit the elliptical. For only $25, this is the best watch band you can find for the least amount of cash.

This high-performance band won't let you down. For a silicone band that will last, go with Casetify. You can sweat in it and your wrist won't get itchy and uncomfortable. That in and of itself is almost a miracle.
Over the years, Casetify has been great about continuing to sell products compatible with older electronics. So even if you don't have a brand new Apple Watch, you'll be able to find a strap that's a guaranteed fit.

Pros
- Not too heavy on the wrist
- Nice-looking links
Cons
- Not my favorite buckle style
Bullstrap makes a sturdy metal band for the nights when you want to get a bit dressier, especially when you're out with a classic black suit and white button-down. This gorgeously finished stainless steel will make you the talk of the town when they find out you are wearing an Apple Watch and not a Rolex. We love how it's got weight to it, but not enough to make it feel like you are wearing a Pip-Boy from Fallout.
Compatibility | 38mm, 40mm, 41mm, 42mm, 44mm, 45mm, 49mm |
---|---|
Material | Stainless Steel |
Colors | Gold, Silver, Black |
Pros
- Durable and scratch resistant
- Easy, magnetic clasp
Cons
- Quality costs money
If titanium is more your metal of choice, go for this band from Nomad. Not only does Nomad's version look expensive (it is) but it's also made in grade two titanium and coated with diamond-like carbon. Now that is some high-quality, rough, and ready material, champ!
The magical part is the magnetic clasp that makes minor adjustments—the type I make throughout the day—a non-issue. Every single moment you're wearing it, it feels light on your wrist. That's even more magical.
Compatibility | 40mm, 41mm, 45mm, 49mm |
---|---|
Material | Titanium |
Colors | Natural, Black |
Pros
- All-purpose
- Looks more expensive than it is
Cons
- Strap loosens easily
Apple's most timepiece-looking band, the Milanese Loop matches the finish of your Apple Watch while giving it a more put together look. These are luxury aesthetics are working class prices. That's a shocker for a first party Apple product, but here we are.
I've been wearing my Milanese Loop for years and love the flexibility and ease of use when it comes to adjustments. The cooling metal feels good on my wrist and I've never had a problem exercising with it on either.
Compatibility | 40mm and 41mm, 44mm and 45mm |

Material | Stainless Steel Mesh |
Colors | Silver, Gold, Graphite |

Pros
- No turtles harmed
- Tons of size options
Cons
- Not the highest quality material
If you want to class up the joint without putting real turtles in harm's way, Machete has got you covered. The Classic Tortoise pattern of the brand's bespoke, acetate-finished, Apple Watch band is a perfectly affordable accent to your mall suit. It's lightweight and looks fancier than it is... at least from a distance.
Compability | Universal Fit,38mm/40mm/41mm, and 42mm/44mm/45mm |
---|---|
Material | Italian acetate, Stainless Steel |
Colors | N/A |
Pros
- Affordable patina leather
- Love the Terracotta color
Cons
- Not the most flexible
Bellroy makes some of the best smartwatch bands for under $100, straight-up. Take this leather strap. Think about the well-considered design— how the curved silhouette accentuates Apple Watch's own curve. That alone is a serious coup.
We love how this band's smooth leather can prevent sweat build-up and weathering with patina. This band will undoubtedly last longer than the tech in your watch will stay relevant.
Compatibility | 38-41mm, 42-49mm |
---|---|
Material | Top-Grain Leather |
Colors | Black, Everglade, Terracotta |
Pros
- Distinctive, beautiful pattern
Cons
- Arguably TOO fancy for an Apple Watch
There is a certain window shopping appeal to this band. You see it, ignore the price tag, and realize that you have to have it. This is the most expensive band on the list, but it's also the most distinctive.
A subtle aesthetic reference to the luxe car is seen here, in all its glory. La Californienne is the kind of brand that only makes centerfold-worthy straps for leveling up your timepiece game. Hence, there's a whole world of colorful stripes and motifs in leather for you to dig in.
Compatibility | 42mm, 44mm |

Material | Leather |
Colors | Black & White |

What to Look For
Unlike everyone else, I'm looking at these things as a watch-lover from a watch-loving magazine. There's a high bar to clear, and only a few brands do it. I've compiled all of the best luxury Apple Watch bands into this list. These were the criteria:
Looks - Pretty simple. The thing can't be ugly. I don't like it to look too techy. Even though it's tough to find anything that's not plastic, there are a few options, and they're all present here.
Compatibility - Tim Cook's Apple is not Steve Jobs's Apple. The old man in a black turtleneck never would have allowed there to be so many different Apple Watches in so many different sizes. But, we're living in reality, so I tried to feature watch bands that are compatible across the spectrum of Apple Watch sizes.
Durability - I mean, I'm not going to recommend you a $150 watchband that'll look horrible in a year. Everything on this list will stay clean or be cleaned easily.
How We Picked
Here at Esquire, we choose products based on research, testing, and first and secondhand experience. When it comes to smartwatch bands, there are more than a few of us around here who wear an Apple Watch daily. These picks are our favorites to wear no matter what the situation. It's a biased list, sure, but that's only because we are biased towards greatness.
Why Trust Esquire?
Because we are the only people who will tell you the hard truth: A lot of tech accessories are hideous. I'm a tech editor, so I see everything that goes to market. Much of what you can buy is cheap, ugly, and bad, but I see other publications cover it as though it's not.
While my peers drink the marketing Kool-Air and tell you a watchband is made of fluoroelastomer or thermoplastic polyurethane, I'll give it to you straight. You know what those really are? Rubber and plastic.
